Edith Yokley, violin Edith Dawn Yokley is a 29-year old violinist from Chicago. Ms. Yokley performs with the Chicago Sinfonietta and is a collaborative artist with the Art Institute of Chicago. Since returning from her Master's degree work at the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor she has performed with such artists as Barry White, Nancy Wilson, Andrea Boccelli, Smokey Robinson, Dennis DeYoung of the Styxx, and Diana Ross and the Supremes. Ms. Yokley received her Master's degree in 1999 from the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor where, as a violin fellow, she studied with Professor Paul Kantor. While at the University of Michigan, Edith was a member of the University's Mariach Troupe, as well as the Philharmonia Orchestra. While in her last year at U of M, Edith began jazz improvisation. She has been featured on several CDs and does session work in both Chicago and New York. Edith is also a violinist with the Tim Janis Ensemble based in New York, the Steve Edwards Orchestra, the High Society Orchestra and the Good Times Society Bands in Chicago. She teaches at Opus 118 in Spanish Harlem and also at St. Ann's School in Brooklyn. |
